# Weekfuel app privacy policy

Weekfuel works without an account, and your data is stored on your iPhone. Here's an honest look at what data the app processes, why, and where it goes.

*This is a translation. In case of any discrepancy, the [German version](/de/datenschutz-app/) prevails.*

## 1. Controller

Paul Schachner (Schachner Media), Bahnhofstraße 6 / Top 25, 6890 Lustenau, Austria
Email: [couplemaxxapp@gmail.com](mailto:couplemaxxapp@gmail.com)

## 2. Overview

| Data | Where it's stored | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Profile details (age, sex, height, goals) | locally on your iPhone | no one |
| Meals, calories, macros | locally on your iPhone | no one |
| Weight (entered manually) | locally on your iPhone | no one |
| Steps from Apple Health | locally on your iPhone | no one |
| Meal photos (only for AI analysis) | sent for analysis | Rork and AI providers (see section 5) |
| Anonymous usage events | Mixpanel (EU) | Mixpanel |

Weekfuel requires **no account**, no email address and no name.

## 3. Data stored locally

To calculate your weekly budget and BMR (Mifflin-St Jeor), you enter age, sex, height, weight and goals. These details, along with your meals, macros, weight history, streak and settings, are stored **locally on your device**. We have no access to them.

**Legal basis:** Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the app's features). Where this involves health data (e.g. weight, nutrition data related to your weight goal), we process it based on your **explicit consent** under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR, which you give by entering the data and can withdraw anytime by deleting it.

## 4. Apple Health (HealthKit)

If you allow it, Weekfuel **reads** only your **step count** from Apple Health to convert it into calories and show your deficit. Weekfuel does not write any data to Apple Health. You enter your weight yourself; it is not read from Apple Health.

For data from Apple Health:

- It is used **only on your device** for the app's features.
- It is **not used for advertising** or marketing.
- It is **not sold** and **not shared with third parties** – including analytics services.
- It is not stored in iCloud or on our servers.

**Legal basis:** your explicit consent (Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR) given via the iOS permission dialog. You can revoke access anytime in the Health app under “Sharing” → “Apps” → “Weekfuel”.

## 5. AI photo analysis

When you take or select a meal photo, it is sent for analysis. An AI model identifies the ingredients and estimates calories and macronutrients. No names, contact details or Apple Health data are sent with the photo.

**Services:** the request runs through the infrastructure of the app platform **Rork**, which forwards it to one of these AI models, depending on load:

- **Qwen** by Alibaba Cloud (Alibaba Group)
- **Gemini** by Google (Google LLC or Google Ireland Limited)
- **Claude Haiku** by Anthropic (Anthropic PBC)

**Server location and retention:** {{KI_ANBIETER}}

**Legal basis:** Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (you actively use the photo feature) and – since meal photos linked to a weight goal may allow conclusions about your health – your explicit consent under Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR. You can always skip this feature and log by search instead.

**International transfers:** where processing takes place outside the EU/EEA, it is based on an adequacy decision of the European Commission (e.g. EU-US Data Privacy Framework, Art. 45 GDPR) or on standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

Analysis results are automatically generated estimates and may be wrong. You can adjust them at any time.

## 6. Anonymous usage analytics (Mixpanel)

To understand which features are used and where the app can improve, we use **Mixpanel** (Mixpanel, Inc., One Front Street, San Francisco, CA 94111, USA) with **EU data residency**. We collect anonymous usage events (e.g. “meal added”, “settings opened”) and technical details such as device type, iOS version and app version. **No health data, photos, meal contents, steps or weight** are sent to Mixpanel, and we do not build profiles about you.

**Legal basis:** Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a stable, user-friendly app) or, where required for accessing your device, your consent under § 165(3) Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021 and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. We have a data processing agreement with Mixpanel under Art. 28 GDPR. Mixpanel is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

## 7. Reminders

Reminders are scheduled as **local notifications** on your iPhone. No data is sent to us or to push services for this. You can turn reminders off in the app or in iOS settings at any time.

## 8. In-app purchases

Weekfuel is currently free. If we offer in-app purchases in the future, they will be processed by Apple; we never receive payment details. To manage purchases we would use **RevenueCat** (RevenueCat, Inc., USA), which processes a random, anonymous user ID and purchase information. We will update this policy before in-app purchases become available.

## 9. App Store

Downloads are handled by Apple's App Store (Apple Distribution International Ltd., Ireland). Apple's privacy policy governs the data Apple processes.

## 10. Retention and deletion

Local data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete all data at any time via **“Reset data”** in the app or by **deleting the app**. As there are no accounts, we store no personal app data on our own servers. For retention by AI providers, see section 5. Anonymous usage events in Mixpanel are deleted once they're no longer needed for analysis.

## 11. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR) and to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR). Since there are no accounts and most data stays on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly in the app. For anything else, write to [couplemaxxapp@gmail.com](mailto:couplemaxxapp@gmail.com).

## 12. Right to lodge a complaint

You can complain to the **Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde** (Austrian Data Protection Authority), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, [dsb.gv.at](https://www.dsb.gv.at), or to the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

## 13. Age

Weekfuel is intended for people aged 16 and over. Calorie counting is not suitable for children and teenagers without medical supervision.

## 14. No medical advice

Weekfuel is not medical device software and does not replace medical or dietary advice.

## 15. Changes

We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The current version is always available at this address.
